Hi!

I’m Tim, owner of Everyday Camera.

Super 8 has a way of making ordinary moments feel extraordinary.

You’re going to have a blast!

What is Everyday Camera?

  • Everyday Camera is a Vancouver based Super 8 camera rental business.
  • My focus is on making Super 8 simple, approachable, and accessible – especially for people who’ve never shot film before.

How did you get started?

  • I started Everyday Camera out of a love for Super 8 and the way it captures everyday life.
  • After taking these cameras on road trips, weddings, and simply documenting quiet days at home. I wanted to make it easier for others to try Super 8 without needing to own or learn everything upfront.

What do you rent?

  • Everyday Camera rents the highest end Super 8 cameras. Our current lineup features Braun Nizo and Canon models, celebrated for their exceptional ergonomics, refined build quality, stylish design, and ultra-sharp optics.
  • Each kit comes complete with everything you need to start filming, plus a full walkthrough to get you up and running before you leave our studio.

How does the rental process work?

  • Choose a package, book your rental, and pick it up from our location.
  • Before you go, there will be a hands-on demo covering loading film, basic shooting, and care.
  • When you’re done, simply return the camera at the end of your rental period.

Where do I pick up and return equipment?

  • Pick-up and drop-off take place at Everyday Camera, 1529 West 6th Ave, Vancouver, BC V6J 1R1.
  • Our regular hours are 08:00–19:00 on weekdays and 08:00–17:00 on weekends.
  • Pickup is from 13:00 onwards on the day before your booking period starts.
  • Drop-off is before 12:00 on the day after booking period ends.
  • If you need to arrange a pick-up or return outside these hours, please contact us directly and we’ll do our best to accommodate.

Do I need experience shooting film?

  • Not at all. Super 8 is simple to use, and we’re here to help.
  • Every rental includes a full demo on pickup, and we’ll attach all relevant user guides and manuals to your order email.

Is there a security deposit?

  • Yes. A refundable security deposit is required for all rentals. The amount depends on the equipment rented, and is returned once the equipment is checked back in good condition.
  • The customer will inspect the equipment at the time of collection and confirm its condition by signing a waiver. If there is any damage to the camera the waiver will be used to confirm images and notes added at time of rental.

What payment methods do you accept?

  • We accept major credit cards and other standard online payment methods. Full payment is required at the time of booking.
  • We do accept on-site purchases for film cartridges or development / scanning services.

Do you provide user guides or instructions?

  • Yes, every rental includes a hands on demo before you leave.
  • User guides and manuals are attached to the order confirmations.

Do you develop or scan film?

  • We don’t process or scan film in-house. Instead, we’ve partnered with FlicFilm, a professional lab based in Alberta.
  • FlicFilm’s team of experienced technicians handle all development and scanning using industry-leading Lasergraphics scanners, delivering consistent, high-quality results at an accessible price point.
  • You can add development and scanning to your order online, or arrange it in person when collecting or returning your gear – we’ll take care of the rest.

Can I give you my film to process even if I didn’t rent a camera from you?

  • Absolutely! Head to the store and purchase either development and scanning, or scan only. Quantity is for each cartridge.
  • You can either drop off in person or mail your cartridges to us.

Do you provide film with the rental?

  • Film is not included with rentals. However, we stock a selection of Kodak Vision3 which you can buy directly from us.

What if something goes wrong while I’m shooting?

  • Super 8 is forgiving, and small imperfections are part of its charm. If you have questions during your rental, reach out – we’re always happy to help troubleshoot or offer advice.

What’s next for Everyday Camera?

  • Right now, I’m focused on making Super 8 simple and accessible for everyday filmmaking. Looking ahead, we’re exploring Super 8 for film and commercial productions, along with expanding our equipment selection based on demand. If you have ideas, needs, or projects in mind, I’d love to hear from you – feel free to get in touch.

How can I give feedback about my rental experience?

  • I’m always looking to improve the business. If you have feedback, suggestions, or ideas for equipment you’d like to see available, please contact us directly or leave a review. I really appreciate hearing from our customers and use your feedback to help shape what we offer next.

Our launch date is June 1st! Please get in touch about any rental inquires.
